Vintage birthday greetings

What a lovely sentiment. A delicate illustration, quite ethereal, unusual for a son's birthday card. Not the usual dark, masculine sporty thing you usually see. From the Chester Thorpe scrapbook.

  1. Hi, Linda - Thanks so much for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I so enjoy your blog - I adored paper dolls when I was young. Sometimes when I was at my grandmother's she would buy me a book of dolls and I would cut them out on the daybed in the dining room and just let the paper fall free. When I was older, I loved the dolls in the "funny papers" especially Brenda Starr. I have searched on the web for Brenda dolls but have not found much. Jane Arden and Mopsy were other favorites. Back when I was a kid, we were not showered with toys like the young ones today and to get a dime that would buy a book of paper dolls was such a thrill! I love all the other cute little things you blog about, too. Carol

  2. I Love vintage cards and postcards. Wouldn't it be nice to know who the artist was?

  3. I have several cards by I believe the same illustrator in an old scrapbook. This artist was either very busy or the style was being copied a lot.
