Greetings from Czechoslovakia, 1938

The perspective in this postcard reminds me of an Escher print.
1938. We know what happens next. The languid street appears full of foreboding...

  1. Karlovy Vary has always filled me with fascination, plus I seem be looking for an excuse to avoid productive work. Your post made me wonder how Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad) did during the war. So off I went on an internet diversion. It turns out that the spa resort lost customers not only dues to WWI and then WWII, but also because of the 30 Years War. I'm not sure I'd like to visit Karlovy Vary, because it would shatter the image I have in my mind.
